USA; release date - 2020. Click to enlarge CP photo: Lisa Cunningham Skippy watches CatVideoFest 2020 I should have known something was up when she placed her laptop on the couch and patted the cushion. That’s a move normally indicating a surprise grooming session or a desperate plea for company while she watches yet another Law & Order: SVU marathon. Then I heard it. “Mew! Mew! Mew! ” Hi, I’m Skippy. A cat. And my human subjected me to 80 minutes of CatVideoFest 2020. Me-wow, people record a lot of cat videos. I thought I had it bad being recorded whenever I fetch a toy like a dog. But come on, that’s talent! Meanwhile, these folks are recording cats simply kicking their hind legs, jumping on top of people doing yoga, wait, standing on someone’s crotch?! Cat, get ahold of yourself! Have some self-respect! (Wait, why is my human laughing? ) Video still from CatVideoFest 2020 Some of these cats clearly have issues. A cat who enjoys taking a bath? Don’t even get me started on the long clip of that weird cat with its tongue hanging out. And lolz, there’s a cat walking on a leash. Did no one tell that thing if it drops to the ground and plays dead, their human will just give up? Do people really gather around a big room and watch this stuff? It’s just clip after clip of cats doing dumb stuff. I gave up and left the room before it ended, but as I turned the corner, I could hear the muffled laughs and whimpers of my owner still watching. Humans are weird. I’m going back to bed. CatVideoFest 2020. Fri., Feb. 28-Sun., March 8. The Rangos Giant Cinema at Carnegie Science Center. 1 Allegheny Ave., North Side. $7. 95-9. 95. CatVideoFest is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and, of course, classic internet powerhouses. CatVideoFest is a joyous communal experience, only available in theaters, and raises money for cats in need through partnerships with local cat charities, animal welfare organizations, and shelters to best serve cats in the area. 2020 edition. I really enjoyed discovering “An Engineers Guide to Cats 2. 0”. Still a fun community event and some of the proceeds went to Pets Alive Austin. It was fun listening to crowd of kids and adults spontaneously meowing when the lights went down. In true Austin art house snob fashion, as I was leaving the theater the person behind me was commenting to their friend that they had not seen all of those videos, but most of them. All I could think to myself was “how many cat videos does this dood watch?!? ” Side note: Bitchin’ poster this year. I wish they sold or gave away mini versions of them at the screening. This was fun and amusing, and a percentage of the ticket sales went to local cat rescue places. But I've seen better cat videos.

Focus Features proved this weekend that Jane Austen’s classic of romantic misadventures and the humor that goes with it remains timeless. Emma, Autumn de Wilde’s visionary and fresh adaptation of the Austen novel, opened in five theaters in New York and Los Angeles to strong numbers, grossing an estimated $230, 000. This brought the per-theater average to $46, 000, which is the highest of any specialty opening this year — not too shabby for the Anya Taylor-Joy period rom-com. The five runs across the Landmark, Alamo Drafthouse, and Angelika in New York and the Arclight Hollywood and Landmark in Los Angeles are all reporting impressive numbers, as the film sits at an 88% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences seem to love it, as they have ranked it at 100%. Related Story 'First Cow' Marks Career-High Opening For Kelly Reichardt, 'Emma' Charms With Massive Expansion - Specialty Box Office Emma. ‘s box office performance echoes similar openings of period pieces for Focus Features, including Victoria & Abdul (2017), which opened in four theaters with a per-theater average of $40K before going on to bank $22M at the domestic box office. In 2018, Mary Queen of Scots also opened in four theaters with an average of $49K PTA and went on to earn $16. 5M domestic. It also paralleled 2016’s Love & Friendship which opened to a per-screen average of $33K, with a final domestic box office of $14M. If word of mouth and positive buzz for the film continues, it is on track to continue this stellar performance when it expands to approximately 100 theaters in 25 markets. ‘ Impractical Jokers: The Movie ’ truTV The pranking, hidden camera hijinks of Impractical Jokers: The Movie snuck into the specialty box office space and had the last laugh, posting very solid numbers in 380 runs, with big numbers in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The movie, based on WarnerMedia’s truTV unscripted series (the big-screen version incorporates pranks into a narrative), banked an estimated $1, 961, 015 at the end of day Saturday and is honing-in on $2, 568, 000 for the entire weekend. If the momentum continues, it can pad its box office cume as it goes wider next week. Amazon Studios’ Seberg earned $60, 487 in its three runs for its theatrical debut after its qualifying run last year. The Benedict Andrews-directed thriller about the real-life actress Jean Seberg started off strong at the Arclight Hollywood in L. A., banking a little over $14K. But attendance dropped over the weekend. In New York, we are hearing the numbers were not as strong at the Angelika and Landmark. Fingers crossed that the film gains traction next weekend when it opens in over 300 theaters nationwide. The Band (L-R): Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Richard Manuel, Garth Hudson, and Robbie Robertson in ‘Once Were Brothers’ Courtesy of Elliott Landy Daniel Roher’s debut feature documentary Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and the Band performed similarly to Seberg at the Arclight Hollywood on Friday, earning an estimated $13. 1K, but saw a decline over the weekend. As for its other three locations in New York and L. A., we are hearing the Magnolia Pictures docu didn’t perform as well. Overall it, is looking at a weekend gross of $41, 500 before expanding to 140 screens in 40 markets next weekend. Oscilloscope Labs’ CatVideoFest 2020 clawed its way into 30 screens across the country. It earned an estimated $220, 150. Sellout theaters were reported this weekend including New York, Seattle, Boston, Chicago, Indianapolis, Raleigh and Grand Rapids. The fest celebrates cats via the best videos culled from a variety of submissions — and it is catnip for feline lovers. Last year, CatVideoFest grossed over $500K. This year, O-scope was expecting to earn over $100K and they certainly surpassed that. They are on their way to surpass 2019’s gross as they add add approximately 80 locations next weekend with over 200 engagements confirmed nationwide. Other openings for the weekend include Pantelion Films’ Las Pildoras De Mi Novio (My Boyfriend’s Meds) which opened soft overall with an estimated $1, 425, 000 on 350 screens. The Telugu-language rom-com Bheeshma opened to the tune of $650K while the groundbreaking same-sex Bollywood pic Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan earned an estimated $689K. The IFC Films coming-of-age drama Premature debuted at a little over $11K while GKIDS’ latest Ride Your Wave added $15, 430 to its box office till which includes $300, 789 from its special premiere event in about 600 locations last week. In its second week out, Searchlight Pictures’ Downhill is struggling after last week’s slow start. The Force Majeure remake starring Will Ferrell and Julia Louis Dreyfus earned an estimated $1, 475, 000 this weekend, falling considerably from its opening of $4. 6 million. Neon ‘s Portrait of a Lady on Fire maintained solid numbers in its expansion to 130 runs in 40 markets, earning an estimated $715, 000 in its third week out. Céline Sciamma’s French period romantic drama is still burning bright in New York, L. A. and San Francisco and is lighting up well in the new markets of Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Austin. As for Neon’s Oscar-winning prize Parasite, it expectedly dropped to $3, 121, 000 this weekend after getting a post-Oscars box office surge. Even so, it is still earning major coin and is on track to $55M at the domestic box office. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019 Format: Prime Video “Dark Waters” Distributed by Focus Features, 126 Minutes, Rated PG-13, Released November 22, 2019: There’s a scene in the 1976 political drama “All the President’s Men” in which Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford as Washington Post reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward need to request from a Library of Congress staff member every checkout slip processed in the past three years in one of the largest libraries in the world. “I’m not sure you want ‘em, ” the sympathetic librarian tells them, “but I got ‘em. ” And in the next shot, the camera slowly pans upward to see the two reporters beginning to sift through tables and tables filled with hundreds of thousands of library checkout slips, in an attempt to find a single clue which will help them to solve the mystery behind the Watergate break-in. There’s a similar scene in “Dark Waters, ” the new fact-based legal thriller from Focus Features now playing in movie theaters across the United States. In the scene, the intrepid attorney played by actor Mark Ruffalo requests from the gigantic DuPort chemical conglomerate records of research material related to the manufacture of one specific compound. In reluctant compliance with the request--as well as an effort to discourage any future investigation by the government--DuPort sends the attorney dozens and dozens of packing crates filled with records. And with a sigh, Ruffalo as the attorney hunkers down in his law firm’s conference room to begin the Sisyphean task of examining the hundreds of thousands of documents, one by one. Both scenes are important to their pictures’ narratives, enormously revealing background touches in unusually engrossing movies. The purpose of the segments is plain--that any result, is desirable enough, is worth working for. If “Dark Waters” and 2000’s “Erin Brockovich” were playing as a double feature at a drive-in theater, you might feel compelled to leave halfway through the second matter which picture played first. But sometimes surface resemblances can be misleading--while the two pictures have similarities and both are informative and richly entertaining movies, a major difference is that the older picture’s conclusion is more because the events of “Dark Waters” are still playing out. Adapted by screenwriters Mario Correa and Matthew Michael Carnahan from writer Nathaniel Rich’s New York Times Magazine article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare, ” in “Dark Waters” a successful and upwardly mobile attorney for a prosperous corporate legal firm places his carefully-plotted career on hold to help a rural farmer pursue a complaint of a local refinery’s waste water is poisoning his discovers that the case leads to the highest echelons of corporate America. If neither DuPont nor Teflon are among the sponsors for this year’s Academy Awards broadcast, don’t be surprised to find Mark Ruffalo’s name among the Best Actor nominees for his role in “Dark Waters. ” Ruffalo is the rare performer who puts his money where his mouth is--a dedicated social activist as well as a gifted actor. When the actor combines the two pursuits, people tend to take notice: 2015’s Academy Award-winning “Spotlight” is an example. In “Dark Waters, ” Ruffalo seems to be trying hard to blend into the ensemble--after adding a few pounds to portray the real-life Robert Bilott, the actor resembles Oliver Platt--but his talent, and his social conscience, shine through in every scene. “Dark Waters” is good, solid, smart motion picture entertainment. You have to work a little to keep up with the plot development--this is one picture for which your ninth grade chemistry will come in handy--and the picture’s conclusion isn’t completely reassuring. The ultimate message is as sobering and troubling as it is inspiring: ”THEY don’t protect us--WE protect us. ” But if you think about it, that’s what Jefferson, Hamilton, Adams, and the other founding fathers were telling us all along. Supporting Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway disguised in a succession of unflattering black wigs is wasted in a nothing role as Ruffalo’s brittle wife, but the reliable old pro Bill Pullman has fun in a showy little role as a seasoned and wiley small-town country lawyer who’s amused to find himself taking on big business for the first time in his career. And ubiquitous supporting player Bill Camp has the role of a lifetime, so persuasive as the crusty West Virginia rancher whose problems set the plot in motion that the viewer might well mistake him for the real deal. Directed by Todd Haynes, “Dark Waters” is earning superb reviews from the critics, including an approval rating of 97% from Rotten Tomatoes and 93% from Metacritic. The picture’s been gaining momentum at the box office--originally placed into a limited release pattern in only five locations across the United States and Canada, the film expanded into 94 theaters during its second week and entered the Box Office Mojo charts in eighteenth place. Now playing in 2012 theaters across the US--about half the number as, say, “Frozen II”--the picture has risen to an impressive sixth place in the Box Office Mojo Top Ten. “Dark Waters” is rated PG-13 for some disturbing images, and strong language. Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2019 Format: Prime Video This is what cinema should be, but very rarely is... a film that deepens our understanding of our world and our lives with drama, script and performances. In the end, it might even save our lives. Thank you, Mark Ruffalo, Todd Haynes, you did yourselves proud. Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase WOW!!! OUTSTANDING CINEMA!!! Heart-felt, well executed, powerful drama!!! All-star cast delivers first-class performances!!! Fact based thriller that will keep you glued to the screen!!! Mark Ruffalo did an outstanding job of being loveabley believable!!! In the vein of CLASS ACTION or A CIVIL ACTION,... yet horrifyingly true!!! PERFECT PURCHASE!!! For your family night explanation of the Deep-State!!! Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2019 Format: Prime Video "Dark Waters" (2019 release; 126 min. ) brings the story of Cincinnati lawyer Rob Bilott's long legal battle against DuPont. As the movie opens, it is "1975 Parkersburg, West Virginia" as we see several teenagers (one of them a young Bilott) go swimming in a lake that we later see being sprayed with chemicals. We then go to "1998 Cincinnati, Ohio", and Rob has just made partner at Taft, one of the large law firms in Cincinnati. Then a stranger shows up who is from Parkersburg and knows Rob's grandmother. The stranger, Wilbur Tennant, claims that chemicals have ruined his farm, he has the VHS tapes to prove it, and can Rob please represent him.... At this point we're 10 min. into the movie, but to tell you more of the plot would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all turns out. Couple of comments: this is the latest movie from Todd Haynes, whose prior movie, the excellent "Carol" was coincidentally also filmed here in Cincinnati (where I live). But that is where the comparisons stop. Here, Haynes brings to the big screen the long battle that Bilott fought against chemical giant DuPont. The film starts a bit tentative in my opinion, but after the first half hour, the tension doesn't let up as DuPont is fighting with all of its might against Bilott. This movie is a labor of love for Mark Ruffalo, who stars and also co-produces. I've seen a lot of the films that Ruffalo has made in his career, and I don't know that he's ever been better, playing the almost mousy yet determined lawyer. Anne Hathaway seems underused as the supportive spouse but as the movie goes deeper, her role expands. The movie was filmed in early 2019 in and around Cincinnati, and the downtown area is featured extensively, including Fountain Square, the Queen City Club, the Hall of Mirrors at the Netherland Plaza, etc. The movie had a red carpet premiere here in Cincinnati a week before it got a limited release. This weekend it got a wide release, and the Friday early evening screening where I saw it at my art-house theater here in Cincinnati was attended okay (about 20 people). This movie will create strong word of mouth, and if it manages to pick up some award nominations (as it is expected), this could have a decent run in the theaters. If you are interested in a tense legal drama where Mark Ruffalo shines, I'd readily suggest you check this out, be it in the theater, on VOD, or eventually on DVD/Blu-ray. Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase Watched it with my 13 year old daughter. We both loved it. The acting is impressive, the story tied and well-told, and the director respects and values its audience. The story is so important, everyone should see it, regardless of political opinion, education, etc... Unless you're part of the 0. 0001% who just don't care at all and have a dead mind and a heart of stone. Thankful for the real-life people that it depicts. You'll see.

From Participant (Spotlight, Green Book), DARK WATERS tells the shocking and heroic story of an attorney ( Mark Ruffalo) who risks his career and family to uncover a dark secret hidden by one of the world’s largest corporations and to bring justice to a community dangerously exposed for decades to deadly chemicals. Corporate environmental defense attorney Rob Bilott (Academy Award®-nominee Mark Ruffalo) has just made partner at his prestigious Cincinnati law firm in large part due to his work defending Big Chem companies. He finds himself conflicted after he’s contacted by two West Virginia farmers who believe that the local DuPont plant is dumping toxic waste in the area landfill that is destroying their fields and killing their cattle. Hoping to learn the truth about just what is happening, Bilott, with help from his supervising partner in the firm, Tom Terp (Academy Award®-winner Tim Robbins), files a complaint that marks the beginning of an epic 15-year fight—one that will not only test his relationship with his wife, Sarah (Academy Award®-winner Anne Hathaway) but also his reputation, his health and his livelihood.

I don't scare easy, but I got Goosebumps near the end when you were explaining the door knob man; you are one hell of a story teller! I wanna hear more! I am keepin' my black ass away from MISSISSIPPI too. Netflix doc the devil we know also covers this. Dark waters movie wikipedia. Dark Waters movie trailers. So, basically if I ever end up with a serious illness then I should take it up with DuPont? Sounds good.

SYNOPSIS:
This is the story based on a real person named "Robert Bilott" and inspired by an article titled "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare." Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) is a lawyer who primarily defends chemical corporations until a farmer from his old town of West Virginia asks for help to prove that there are chemicals being dumped in the water that is the cause of large amount of cow deaths. Although unconvinced at first, through excessive research and digging, Robert begins to find horrifying evidence of something much worse than just a deadly chemical to cows, but humans and all creatures alike.
DIRECTION:
If I'm being honest, I don't have much to say in this realm. The direction by Todd Haynes was as technically solid as any other good film. Yes, just "good." The color palette was probably a little too dull even for the subject matter and really the film's strong points really lye in the writing and some strong performances. I feel almost any other director could've done the same job, if not better.
WRITING:
The writing is definitely a step up from the directing. The writing isn't perfect as there are some scenes that almost seemed unnecessary and just had me thinking "get to the story! Now, there is much to be said about how much time and effort it must've been to retrieve all of this information and translate it to script. Yes, it's been done before, ie: Spotlight, Zodiac, etc., but this is quite possibly one of the most important stories to be told today as this is something that is still affecting everyone. TODAY. It is based on the NYTIMES article "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare" by Nathanial Rich, but obviously there was far more research than a 10ish page article.
ACTING:
The acting is definitely where the juice is at. This is where you take your regular beef sandwich and baptize it (In case you're not american enough to know what this means, it means you dump in in the beef juice. Mark Ruffalo gives a similarly excellent performance as he did in Spotlight. WOAH WOAH, I didn't say it was AS good, I said it was SIMILAR. Cool it, Mary. It's expected, but he really makes the film what it is. Anne Hathaway is great, as usual, but her role as the wife wasn't integral to the story. I understand showing he has a life outside of work with kids and a wife and showing the kid's grow older and older gives substance to the prolonged journey Robert is taking, but these were the scenes I felt could've been cut or replaced. Tim Robbins is in this and some other people and some other people. All did well, just kind've interchangeable.
CONCLUSION:
Mr. John "The Sexy and Over-qualified or something Critic Guy" Yanulis, you rated this film a 3.5/5, yet after reading your overly long review it seems like a high rating. What can I say? I like it Ruff and I'm a sucker for investigative films on important and interesting topics. Also, I prefer rating my films on a 1-10 bases, but I'm limited. So really for me this film is like a 6.6/10.

Dark waters movie song. Wow, i felt like mark just entranced the entire audience, trevor included, with his explanation of corporate evil persisting in their agendas from past lessons to the current climate. Thanks man. It's been a minute & I'm curious to hear what u got goin on these days. This movie is so outstanding in the way it shows how mental health and bullying can affect a persons entire being. The movie has one problem it ends.

These stories are great. I found a new channel to listen to spooky stories, and the narrator is hilarious. I told him to kindly kiss my ass lol. Find out the true story behind the characters played by Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway and other stars in the legal thriller. 'Dark Waters' Courtesy of: Focus Features Dark Waters follows Robert Bilott's (Mark Ruffalo) real-life legal battle against DuPont over the release of a toxic chemical into Parkersburg, West Virginia's water supply, affecting 70, 000 townspeople and hundreds of livestock. As a corporate defense attorney on the environmental team at Taft Stettinius & Hollister in Cincinnati, Bilott spent most of his time defending companies like DuPont. But when a farmer from his grandmother's hometown approached Bilott about his dead cattle, Bilott decided to look into it as a favor to his grandmother. "It just felt like the right thing to do, " Bilott said in the 2016 New York Times Magazine article that served as a basis for the film. "I felt a connection to those folks. " Wilbur Tennant, played by Bill Camp in the film, showed Bilott videos and pictures he had taken of his cows foaming at the mouth and staggering in ways they hadn't before, with lesions covering their hides. Bilott immediately took on the case. Soon after, he found evidence that DuPont had been dumping toxic chemical waste into the town's water supply, near a creek where Tennant raised his cows, which resulted in a legal fight against the company that lasted more than a decade. Focus Features' Dark Waters, directed by Todd Haynes, also stars Anne Hathaway, Tim Robbins, Victor Garber, Mare Winningham and Bill Pullman. Read on to find out more about the real-life inspirations behind the characters these actors portray. Mary Cybulski/Focus Features; ANGELA WEISS/AFP via Getty Images Longtime activist Mark Ruffalo read the article in the New York Times Magazine and went after the film rights, eventually partnering up with Participant to produce it. "I felt like there was something missing from the original story at Taft, " Ruffalo said at the Produced By: New York conference Nov. 9. "Some sort of conflict that was happening that really wasn't in the article. " When Ruffalo asked Bilott about it, his wife told the actor and producer of the film to get the rights, and they would tell him everything. Bilott became a part of the entire filmmaking process after that. "What's remarkable about Rob [Bilott] is he's not your typical hero, " Ruffalo said later in the conference. "He's a very modest guy, and we really went for that. He's not a hero because we want to be him, he's a hero because we don't. " Mary Cybulski/Focus Features Anne Hathaway plays Bilott's wife, Sarah, whom he met through a co-worker at Taft. Focus Features' synopsis of Dark Waters states that taking on DuPont tested Bilott and Sarah's relationship. "It was stressful, " Sarah, who was a lawyer before she stopped working to be a stay-at-home mom, told the New York Times Magazine about the case. "He was exasperated that it was lasting a long time. But his heels were so dug in. He's extremely stubborn. Every day that went by with no movement gave him more drive to see it through. But in the back of our minds, we knew that there are cases that go on forever. " Hathaway hasn't shared much about playing her character, but on Sept. 18, she posted the trailer to her Instagram and shared how happy she was to be a part of Dark Waters. On Nov. 15, Hathaway said she was sad she wasn't able to join her fellow castmembers at the premiere, but she was "so proud of their work on this special and necessary film, " she wrote in her caption of two cast photos on Instagram. When the trailer was released on Sept. 18, Tim Robbins tweeted: "Proud to be part of this compelling and important story about a real American hero. " Robbins takes on the role of Thomas Terp, Bilott's supervisor on the environmental team at Taft. Though hesitant at first, Terp became one of Bilott's strongest allies in the cases against DuPont. The actor spoke to Terp via Skype about the case. He "showed incredible courage in taking on DuPont, " Robbins told NBC Boston. "The reason why I wanted to play this guy is because there are people out there who may not be ideologically aligned but still see the difference between right and wrong. " Taking on a huge corporation like that "did cause us pause, " Terp told the New York Times Magazine. "But it was not a terribly difficult decision for us. I'm a firm believer that our work on the plaintiff's side makes us better defense lawyers. " Wilbur Tennant approached West Virginia lawyers, journalists and politicians about his concerns regarding his cows before bringing the case to Bilott. However, nobody wanted to take on a corporation as big as DuPont, primarily because it employed a big chunk of people in the small town. Bill Camp, known for his supporting roles in movies like Lincoln and 12 Years a Slave and limited series such as The Night Of and The Looming Tower, plays Tennant. Camp learned some of Tennant's real-life traits from his brother and sister-in-law, since the farmer died in the midst of the cases against DuPont. "There were sides of him that I was really grateful to find out about — personal sort of traits of his that were really useful, " Camp told Free Pix Mail at the premiere Nov. 13. Phil Donnelly was an executive at DuPont as Bilott took on the company, and Victor Garber was more than happy to play the part. "It was the best screenplay I've read since Argo, so yeah I thought it was brilliant and also the people involved. It was like a gift for me! I loved it, " he told Closer Weekly. "The subject matter is so important and so timely and so disturbing, and I did see a screening of it, so I can talk very supportively about it. It's an incredible movie. " Mike Coppola/Getty Images; Ernesto Distefano/Getty Images Mare Winningham takes on the role of Darlene Kiger, a Parkersburg resident whose first husband was a chemist for DuPont and worked in its PFOA (the toxic chemical found in the town's water) lab. "When you worked at DuPont in this town, you could have everything you wanted, " Kiger told the New York Times Magazine. The company paid for her husband's education, their mortgage and gave him a hefty salary. Six years after her first husband told her he couldn't bring his work clothes home because PFOA caused health problems for women and birth defects in children, Kiger had to have an emergency hysterectomy. Years later, Kiger and her second husband received a letter from their local water district explaining that PFOA had been found in drinking water but insisting that they weren't at risk. "I kept thinking back to his clothing, to my hysterectomy, " she told the magazine. "I asked myself, what does DuPont have to do with our drinking water? " ANGELA WEISS/AFP via Getty Images Harry Deitzler was a personal injury lawyer who worked with Bilott in his class-action suit against DuPont. According to The News Journal of Wilmington, Delaware, after the chemical company settled the suit, Deitzler used the money to test everyone who had been in contact with the toxins in the water. Medical examinations found that exposure to the chemical was linked to multiple diseases like testicular and kidney cancer, ulcerative colitis and thyroid disease. Bill Pullman plays Deitzler and spoke highly of his character at the Dark Waters premiere. He said that because Bilott was a big-time corporate lawyer, Deiztler was the local, small-town guy they brought in to show the human side of the case. Deitzler had seen the movie before Pullman and said that he really liked it. "He was so glad that he was part of the story, " Pullman told Free Pix Mail. "I'm proud that this movie got made, and I feel lucky that I was part of it — something to educate and motivate people to do the right thing, " the actor added.

Dark waters movie cast. Dark Waters movie theater. Looks great! Glad to see Tim Robbins. A t the end of Dark Waters, a dense, angry drama about the horrifying health effects of corporate negligence, it’s possible, and perhaps quite likely, to leave the cinema with complaints about the specifics of the film-making. Sometimes it pushes too much, sometimes not enough, a conventional procedural with undeniable flaws. But what’s entirely impossible as the credits roll, is to leave without a palpable sense of fury, a real world, off-screen outrage directed not just at a particular issue but at a particular company. It’s a film that works best as a two-hour assault on DuPont, a chemical company with toxic blood all over its hands. embed It shouldn’t be this rare to see a film in 2019 imploring us to bear witness to crimes committed by a hugely powerful, and profitable, corporation, one that’s named and shamed repeatedly throughout, but it still feels like an outlier, belonging more in the 70s than it does now. It’s this focused rage that propels it forward, giving it a vitality that’s often missing from the direction, a strange choice for director Todd Haynes whose films are typically known for their queerness and vibrancy. Here he’s a steady, if anonymous, pair of hands, telling a story based on a shocking New York Times long read about dogged, modest corporate lawyer Rob Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) who’s confronted with a game-changing case. Working for a high-profile law firm, acting on behalf of major chemical clients, he finds himself reminded of his humble beginnings when a farmer from his home town of Parkersburg enters his slick office. His farm is dying, or more specifically his cows are, 190 of them to date, and he’s convinced that it’s a result of drinking water infected by a neighbouring factory owned by DuPont, one of the world’s largest chemical companies. Bilott is initially reluctant to take on a personal case, given his firm’s focus on corporate clients, but he finds the evidence undeniable and the further he digs, the bigger the case becomes. It’s been quite the year for big-screen whistleblowers, kicked off in Sundance with Amazon’s tight, tense CIA thriller The Report and the far more plodding Katharine Gun drama Official Secrets. Dark Waters falls somewhere between the two, solidly effective and mostly involving yet relying a little too much on the dusty conventions of the subgenre to make a major mark. Arriving in the thick of awards season, it’s likely to get buried, or drowned, by the competition although its damning snapshot of corporate corruption and one man’s tireless, heroic effort to expose it should be seen and remembered. It probably would have been a surer fit for Netflix and Haynes’s muted work behind the camera gives it the feel of a film intended for the small screen. It’s his most straightforward project to date and his serviceable work is matched with an equally sturdy script from Mario Correa and Matthew Michael Carnahan, the latter having ample experience in taking Goliath to task having co-written 2016’s criminally underrated, BP-baiting Deepwater Horizon. There’s a simple pleasure in watching Bilott do his job and do it well, despite the odds that were stacked against him and Ruffalo avoids turning him into a showman, quietly and diligently finding a way to bring DuPont to task within the framework of the legal system. The focus on the minutiae of the case makes the film’s silly, incongruous scene of Bilott worrying his car might be rigged to explode feel all the more unnecessary (it was predictably used in the trailer, hoping to fool viewers into thinking of this as a thriller). Instead, it’s the insidious confidence of a company of this scale that has a far more chilling effect, the accepted knowledge that wealth will win no matter what. Anne Hathaway in Dark Waters. Photograph: Mary Cybulski Ruffalo is reliably solid in the lead, keeping his performance believably dialled down but those around him are less well-modulated. There are oversized turns, or at least scenes, from Tim Robbins, Bill Pullman and especially Bill Camp as the farmer in need while, as Bilott’s wife, Anne Hathaway is both miscast and misused. The thankless wife role is a given in this territory and what’s frustrating here is how the film gives us an interesting thread (Bilott’s wife was also a lawyer who gave up her career to have children) and then abandons it completely. Attaching an actor of Hathaway’s status leads us to expect more than what she’s given and when her big scenes do come, they don’t land. We can see her acting too hard which automatically removes us from the naturalistic setting. Misgivings aside, Dark Waters deserves to make an impact and early speculation suggests that it will. This week a Wall Street analyst, after watching the film, claimed that it could be “very damaging” for DuPont and perhaps that’s its biggest ace. As a drama, it’s patchy but as a document, it’s undeniable. Dark Waters is released in the US on 22 November and in the UK on 28 February.

I agree with a previous reviewer that his is an intense short. Well crafted, but I have a nagging disbelief as to her attitude towards what happened before the depicted story starts.

Une soeur youtube. J'm'en lasse pas. Une soeur qui couche avec un homme par force 3. "Une soeur" or "A Sister" is a Belgian French-language live action short film that premiered back in 2018 and was nominated at the 2020 Academy Awards almost 1.5 years later. The director is Delphine Girard, apparently still a relatively young filmmaker, and her effort here makes me curious about what we can expect from her once she makes the transition to full feature films. I got to watch all the five nominated live action short films last night before the Oscar ceremony and this one here was the first they showed and also my favorite from the bunch. At approximately 17 minutes, it as also the shortest from the nominees I believe, but the outcome here is a perfect example of how quantity does not equal quality because the other four are inferior, some even drastically. Shame this one probably never really had a chance to take home the prize. But that does not make it worse or anything. When and after watching, I still thought it was merely good, but after thinking a bit about it, I'd say it is even great and one of the finest short movies from its year and also deserving of the Oscar win. This partially has to do with lead actress Veerle Baetens here, who plays an emergency phone hotline operator. I already thought she was amazing on "The Broken Cicle Breakdown" wow... can't believe this one is already almost a decade old. so I recognized her immediately. This film reminded me of a Danish film from not too long ago that was also fairly close to being nominated for an Oscar, but that was a full feature film, so there were plot twwists and everything. This one here is just very focused and essential story-telling that almost feels a bit like a documentary from a police investigation. Fittingly, I read an article not too long ago about a case where a woman called such a hotline to report a case of domestic violence I think and that she (or somebody close to her) is in danger, but she could not speak freely, so she disguised her call as if she was calling to order a pizza. The hotline operator understood and realized it is not a prank and managed to help her to become hero of the day.
This film is at least slightly similar to that but it as made way before the event I just mentioned (became public) so it did not inspire this film. I think the moment you realize what's going on, namely when you find out that the hotline operator just received the call you saw before that from the perspective of the woman in the car, you are immediately in the middle of this film. And you won't leave until it is over. It is that good and had me on the edge of my seat more than most full feature movies. Of course, you will need subtitles unless you are fluent in French, but this should not keep you from watching. It is really essential that you understand all the dialogues. I also liked how they elaborated on what happened before that, probably that the woman was abused sexually and then abducted. You would not know how it ends, if there is a big car chase scene, the guy loses it and maybe kills his victim and/or himself or whatever else could happen, but Girard took the most likely and most realistic way out without any spectacular final sequence. Or I should say any spectacular showy sequence because the moment the police stops them, he gets out of the car and surrenders. Felt very authentic and realistic. So did everything else about the end, for example how she asks the woman on the phone if she is supposed to step out of the vehicle now as well. She trusted her to make the right decision for her the way she did before that by basically saving her. And at the very end, when Baetens' character asked for her name, we find out how anonymous this job really is and how you have to deliver acts that are much bigger than a simple "hello my name is. and still it stays a really lonely profession. The attention to detail in this film is nice too. Just one example how she steps away from the noise at her workplace when she is about to talk to the guy. She definitely is a pro knowing what needed to be done to do her best to save a life. There is no guarantee of course. Early on, there is also a brief moment of comedy when we find out about a guy who has been constantly calling for nothing that warrants calling. And finally, I would like to say that I think the title is a good choice as well. Very simple, but hits the nail right on the head. She is her sister that night, not only because of how she has to pretend she is, but also because the two women have a special connection. In the truest sense of the word. I highly recommend this film. Very well done.

Whoever dislikes this now carries a disease. im talking about the short animation btw.

Cristi is a middle aged undercover police officer with mommy issues who is trying to find the location of some stolen money. So he goes to a remote island to learn a whistling language that will allow him to communicate with the criminals from a distance. There he rekindles a relationship with his old flame and his priorities change. As both the criminals and his colleagues are onto Cristi what choices will he make to come out clean of his predicament? A clever game of cops and robbers ensues.
Summing up this multi layered, not always coherent plot, is not an easy task. THE WHISTLERS takes a long time to get going but it's many elements come together building up to something special. Heavy on movie references it is heavily inspired by Tarantino movies, although the style of the cinematography is rather dull.
The script on paper must look great, but this is the case where a writer should let go of his work and let someone else direct. Cornelliu Porumboiu helmed 13 films but seems to be still searching for his directing style. While all the cast do their job well, the motives of their characters for the majority of the film are obscure to say the least.
But if this is the originality you are looking for THE WHISTLERS is for you. With good timing and a genuine sense of wit it is a rewarding experience for those who will stick with it until the end.

La Gomera Watch full article. La gomera watch full season. 1 - The Wildest One La Gomera and El Hierro (behind) as seen from Roques del Cedro on Tenerife. La Gomera, the next to smallest island of the Canaries, has been called the wildest of them all. Though its highpoint doesn’t quite reach 1500m, though it is an anticlimax as highpoints go, though there is only one real mountaineering objective, La Fortaleza de Chipude, the island surely deserves the description. It is a veritable hikers’ paradise offering hikes and scrambles of all lengths aspects and difficulties. And you can barely go wrong as the important routes have been marked extensively. La Gomera’s wild aspect is caused by its geologic history, the first half of which was dominated by volcanism. La Gomera was created 12 million years ago by cleft volcanism where the magma is emitted along long fissures in the ground. Along with the magma huge amounts of cinder and ash were also emitted forming the near circular shape of the island. Gradually, however, volcanism stopped and for the last 2 million years there has been no eruption at all on the island. This is when erosion took over in forming the landscape and thanks to large amounts of rainfall over the millennia it is estimated that today already half of the bulk of the island has been washed away to the sea. Erosion formed large canyons, the barrancos of La Gomera, which run from the centre of the island to its outskirts. In the north, where volcanism stopped earlier the barrancos have become rather wide while the ridges in between, the lomos, have become knife-edge like in character. In the south these ridges are rather broad and mesa like with very narrow barrancos, bounded by near vertical walls. Today there are about 50 barrancos heading out from the island’s centre to the sea. Every here and there – rather often in fact – you come across the remains of the magma emitting fissures, in which magma has cooled down to form large solid blocks off basalt. These structures tend to stand alone above the washed out barrancos, offering very impressive views and very wild aspects. The Techeleche mountains in the west of La Gomera are a good example of these kind of volcanic structures. Last – but in no way least – La Gomera is home to half a dozen rock towers, former volcanic plugs, where lava was funnelled to the top of the volcanoes. Most of them are located at the south-western boundary of the Parque Nacional de Garajonay, La Gomera’s largest national park (see below) and rise out of the cloud forest like giant cones. Near Hemigua and Vallehermoso in the north as well as Imada and Benchijigua in the south there are more of these towers, all looking very wild and inaccessible. As said above, La Gomera is perfect for hikers. In the 16th and 17th centuries Gomerans created Caminos and Mulaterias between the villages in the mountains and at sea levels. In the last years these Caminos have been revised and marked. Often they take the direct route between the two endpoints regardless of the terrain so that you find yourself climbing up an improbable vertical wall on an exposed ledge-like and switch backing trail. There is a veritable web of these paths, connecting to any interesting point. Moreover there are two trekking trails, GR131 and GR132. The former climbs across the central mountain range, connecting San Sebastian in the east with Vallehermoso in the west while the latter circles the island high above the coast. GR131 takes 2 to 3 days to complete, GR 132 5 to 8 days. 2 - La Gomera on SP Interactive Overview Map of La Gomera La Gomera cannot easily be divided in different mountain ranges. There is the central highland around Garajonay, the island’s highpoint but not much more. The remaining mountains of the island are located on the ridges between the various barrancos. Therefore generally the island is divided by the directions of the compass. I added two additional regions, the central highland in the Parque Nacional de Garajonay and the greater region of Valle Gran Rey in the south-west of the island. All are described in the following sections and mountain pages will be added to the appropriate sections as they appear on SP. Parque Nacional de Garajonay Garajonay Los Roques The East Altos de Uteza Jaragan The South Barranco Juan de Vera Valle Gran Rey La Fortaleza de Chipude Lomo de Harinero Tequergenche La Merica The North-West Tejeleche The North Lomo Gordo 3 - Parque Nacional de Garajonay Garajonay as seen from La Fortaleza The centre of the island of La Gomera is dominated by the north-western trade winds. The humid air, being forced to rise above the mountainous centre of the island condenses and often forms dense clouds which cover the mountain tops, especially in the north. This cloud cover creates the conditions for one of the rarest types of forests on earth, the Canarian laurisilva or laurel forest. All of the Canarian islands that exceed 1000m in elevation have their laurisilva patches but none as large as La Gomera. More than 10% of the island’s area (4000ha from 369square km) are covered by this dense cloud forest, offering a habitat for a large variety of endemic plants and animals (mainly birds). The whole area has been set aside as a national park, the Parque Nacional de Garajonay, which itself has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a strange kind of forest. The trees rarely exceed 20m in height, nevertheless inside it is as dark as a forest can be. The trees are covered with lichen and moss, often sporting beards of several metres length. Thanks to the wet conditions the turf is very slippery and descending one of the hill-like summits can become nightmarish. You should not leave the roads, paths and trails since it is easy to get lost inside the laurisilva. The park management has created a network of marked trails which connect the major points of interest within the forest. Though the park contains all summits above 1300m on the island it nevertheless is of no mountaineering importance. The summits are all hill-like and tree covered and solely Garajonay, La Gomera’s highpoint is of some interest. Some of the other peaks can also be climbed but apart from Alto de Igualero, the antenna decorated neighbour of Garajonay none are. Roque de Agando Right outside the park – in its south-east you can find another small park, the Monumento Natural de Los Roques. Here three impressive towers, former volcanic plugs remain standing, Roque de Agando, Roque de la Zarcita and Roque de Ojila. All three used to be climbing destinations in the past (especially Roque de Agando with some 200m long, UIAA IV and V graded routes) but with the advent of the UNESCO World Heritage Site they have been declared off limits. Within the laurisilva forest the Roques are the main tourist destination. The road from San Sebastian to Valle Gran Rey passes in their midst and several miradores have been established to offer good views for the crowds. 4 - The East Tenerife above the eastern part of La Gomera The eastern part of the island can be defined as the area east of the Hermigua Valley in the north and the wild Barranco Juan de Vera in the south. It is one of the most inhabited areas on the island since the capital, San Sebastian de La Gomera is at its centre. About xxxx of La Gomera’s xxxxx inhabitants live in the greater San Sebastian area and consequently you have to account for a lot of “civilization out east. Nevertheless the region contains one of the most inaccessible mountain ranges on La Gomera, the Cumbre de Carbonara, which bounds the Hermigua Valley to the east. It’s highest mountain, Enchereda, has been closed to hiking for environmental reasons and thus only on hiking trail crosses the range at Degollada de la Cumbre right above the Hermigua – San Sebastian road. The Cumbre Carbonara is a long wooded ridge, running from the centre of the island to the north and sporting impressive faces on its western side. Apart from Cumbre Carbonara you can find several other long ridges, which separate frofound Barrancos. The best known is the one running from Degollada de la Cumbre to San Sebastian, where you can find several hiking destinations like Altos de Uteca, Montaña Ismael or Jaragan, all of which are nicely visible from the island capital. The southern boundary, Barranco Juan de Vera, is one of the wildest of the whole island. Bounded by two rock-studded ridges it also contains many lava walls, proofs of the fissures with formerly emitted the lava, which created the island. The rock structures along the ridges are all made up from beautiful solid basalt pillars and if it weren’t for the long access routes would make for perfect climbing venues. The private holiday resort El Cabrito at its mouth, however, amounts to an anticlimax of that beautiful canyon. 5 - The South Pico Gomero and Roque del Sombrero The south of La Gomera, between Barranco Juan de Vera in the east and Barranco de la Rajita in the west is of the least mountaineering interest of all the regions on the island. Like all other regions it contains its share of Barrancos but thanks to the towns of Playa de Santiago (and its airport) and Alajero, the region’s capital, it is home to a lot of purely touristic attractions like a Golf Course or the only old Drago tree of La Gomera. The exception from this rule is Barranco de Benjichigua, which leads up to the island’s centre with Roque de Agando at its end. There is a nice loop hiking trail from The Carreta del Centro to Imada, Benchijigua, Roque Agando and back, one of the most exceptional routes on the island. After the closure of Los Roques for climbing, Roque de Imada, a tower of secondary importance is one of the last remaining climbing objects on the island. Thanks to the lack of rain in the south of La Gomera the region is the main area of retreat in case of foggy weather in the north and centre. It offers long hiking routes, which, however, lack the beauty of some of the routes in the other regions. The area is simply too arid to be attractive. 6 - Valle Gran Rey High above the mouth of Valle Gran Rey Valle Gran Rey, the Valley of the Great King, is the main touristic spot on La Gomera. Mainly German tourists spend their vacation here, choosing between the beaches and the impressive hikes and scrambles along the bounding Mesas of the valley. The region encompasses all the area between Barranco de la Rajita in the east and the Taguluche Valley in the west and is home to the sole mountaineering destinantion on the island, La Fortaleza de Chipude. La Fortaleza is a circular table-top mountain formed out of solid red basalt towering high above the Baranco de Earque with its red east face. The normal ascent, formerly a UIAA I / II affair has been degraded into an exposed scramble thanks to steps which have been hewn out of the north-eastern chimney route. Apart from La Fortaleza there are two very interesting Mesas – the ones which form the boundaries of Valle Gran Rey. To the west there is a high ridge, starting at Arure in the north and ending directly above the Valle Gran Rey beaches. La Merica, as it is called was used as cattle grazing ground in former years but now is left to the many hikers who want to follow the ridge and descend to the coast. La Merica is 855m high and climbing the switchbacks of the camino which leads to its top from Valle Gran Rey is quit challenging especially on sunny days. It’s advisable to start very early in the morning. To the east of Valle Gran Rey there is another set of mesa like summits, Lomo de Harinero, Montana de Adivino, Lomo de Las Pilas and Tequergenche, the latter standing 600m high above the port of Vueltas. Like La Merica on the other side of the Valle the summits in the east are very panoramic but made up from very brittle rock. Unlike La Merica there are barrancos which separate the summits and personal experience shows that crossing one of these can turn out to be a very dangerous affair. To the east of Tequergenche there is Barranco de Araga, a short but profound canyon, which is the most difficult route to the Tequergenche summit. After passing the buildings at the mouth of the barranco the route turns into a veritable dance across ledges and through chimneys before the canyon turns into a palm studded valley in its upper part. All in all it is probably one of the most difficult hiking routes on the island. 7 - The North-West The Techeleche Range as seen from the ascent to Lomo de Carrreton To the north La Merica suddenly drops off into Barranco de Taguluche, one of the most beautiful settings on La Gomera. This profound barranco is bounded by impressive walls on three sides and open only to the sea through a narrow mouth. In addition to the La Merica north face in the south of the barranco, Lomo de Carreton, a broad backed ridge bounds the valley to the east with beautiful reddish basalt walls. But the show of the valley is the small Techeleche Range, probably the wildest range on the island. It is one of the youngest parts of La Gomera but also lots of its substance has eroded into the sea. Thus you find a wonderful setting of towers which rise out of the sea for up to 600m. In between a lot of lava walls bear witness to the history of the area – long fissures which emitted the brittle substance of the range. To its north – across Barranco del Mono - the north-western part of La Gomera turns less wild. However, the coast is inaccessible for most of the region, only at Ajolera and Arguamul two roads get close to the sea. The region is separated by a long, broad and tree-covered ridge by the Valley of Vallehermoso, a popular hiking destination thanks to the easy roads and perfect views in the area. On a good day Tenerife and La Palma can bee seen from the ridge, which reaches its highpoints at some 900m at Montaña de la Puntilla and Montaña de la Caldera. 8 - The North Lomo Gordo in the north of La Gomera The north of La Gomera, like the south, is of little mountaineering importance. It stretches between the valleys of Vallehermoso to the west and Hermigua to the east. The coast itself is inaccessible for most part and the Carretera del Norte, the winding main road in the north of the island takes up much space in the countryside behind. Near Vallehermoso, several interesting Rock formations can be found, the most impressive of which is Roque El Cano, which towers high above the little town in the north. Another interesting destination is Lomo Gordo, a broad backed Mesa, which separates the Hermigua Valley from the Agulo. Though the top of the lomo can be reached by car from the centre of the island it has two interesting ascent routes and probably the best view of Tenerife you can get on La Gomera. From the Hermigua side in the east a camino climbs a spur of Lomo Gordo, sometimes breathtakingly exposed but never really difficult. From Agulo another camino winds its way through the Red Wall, a vertical basalt wall right above the little town. Last but not least one should mention Los Gemenos, the twin rocks at El Estanquillo, two former volcanic plugs which tower above the Hermigua Valley. Unlike the other rocks on the island Los Gemenos have not been placed inside a natural monument and thus are easily accessible. However, the hamlet El Estanquillo surrounds the rocks with houses right up to their bases. 9 - Traffic and Accommodation The small Canarian islands, La Gomera and El Hiero, can only be reached by a relayed flight schedule or by using one of the ferries from Tenerife or La Palma. Both islands have regional airports which are only served by the local carrier. Moreover weather often is unstable at the airports that flights can be delayed of are cancelled altogether. As for ferries – still the regular mode of travelling – you can choose among different carriers and different starting harbours. Generally travel offices will book the whole itinerary from your home airport to the hotel or apartment complex. It will include the flight to Tenerife south, bus transfer to the harbour (Los Christianos), ferry transfer to La Gomera or El Hierro, and the bus transfer to the hotel. As for accommodation, you can rent hotel rooms and apartments from any travel office in Europe (overseas might be a bit more difficult). Many of the large companies have their own web sites so that you might look them up there as well. For fincas you can try to contact locals from a web based search – many expatriates offer their own houses for use by tourists. It takes a bit of research on the web however. Make sure you book a flight before you book the apartment, especially over the Christmas or Easter holidays. Flights are always sold out during these times. Local transport is available by bus. There are bus lines between the major towns on the islands. Since there are only a handful of regional roads this amounts to a thorough network and you’ll be able to reach anywhere on the island, especially if you are prepared to hike a bit. Make sure that you know the schedule, however. Some lines are served only once or twice a day. Therefore renting a car might be advisable after all. You can rent small cars in any of the tourist resorts as well as from the harbours or airports. Prices are somewhat lower than in continental Europe though still quite high. Also without a hotel address the car rental companies tend to give you run-down cars. 10 - Red Tape Dragonfly near Benchijigua La Gomera is a veritable patchwork of national, regional, local and natural parks. Apart from the Laurisilva in the Parque Nacional de Garajonay the park rules are not overly restrictive. Local farmers tend to let their sheep and goats graze in the areas so that there is always a passage through the parks. Of course, no plants may be collected and the few Gomeran animals should not be disturbed. The Garajonay Park additionally has the restriction that noone is allowed to camp in its limit and that open fire is only allowed in the designated areas. Also, since it has been declared world heritage site, climbing is not allowed on the Roques at its south-eastern boundary. 11 - Weather Conditions Trade wind clouds There are few sites on the web, which deal with the weather for La Gomera. The island just is not very popular with the tourist crowd. The ones you can find are for San Sebastian. The following table gives a rough general overview over the weather on La Gomera, at sea level. Month Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Avg. day temp. [°C / °F] 20 / 68 21 / 70 22 / 72 23 / 73 25 / 77 27 / 81 29 / 84 Avg. night temp. [°C / °F] 15 / 59 16 / 61 18 / 64 17 / 63 Water temp. [°C / °F] 19 / 66 Rainy days 11 8 6 5 2 1 0 The Canarian Islands (as well as Madeira) are located in the trade wind zone. You almost always encounter northeastern winds which carry a lot of humid air. Being forced to climb to higher altitudes this moisture condenses into clouds. This in return means that most of the time the northeastern part of the islands is covered in clouds from altitudes of 1000m through 1500m. The mountainous region in the centre of the island is of the same alltitude and thus stops the clouds. While the northern parts of the islands can be foggy and rainy the southern parts most often are sunny and hot. On La Gomera the centre of the island collects almost all moisture in a big cloud forest, the laurisilva. It is the largest consecutive cloud forest on any of the Canarian islands and has been declared world heritage site. 12 - Maps & Books 12. 1 – Maps Obviously there are no decent hiking maps of the island. It appears that in some regions the topographical data differs from the reality on the ground so that three different map sets can show three different sets data while the reality is different again. For hiking purposes the following map is adaequate though not perfect. This is a beautiful movie and music, I live in Fuerteventura but we are looking to go to La Gomera and if we like it, hopefully moving there instead. Your film does it a lot of justice. I can't wait to see it for myself. La gomera watch full body. Ich hoffe Wolf und Wolfgang sind bald mal wieder zu Gast.

Les vidéos toujours aussi belles ! Elles me font ma petite soirée avant la prière du soir.
I am going to Fatima in July. This video is great preparation for my visit, and I thank you so much doing such a great job. I have no doubt that Our Blessed Mother thanks will bless and watch over you for your effort with this.
Conjuring is nothing in front of courage the cowardly dog.

So vast a number of miserable souls perish, and so comparatively few are saved! –Saint Philip Neri, mystic.

The conjuring and insidious vibes🤷. Can you quote the scripture where apparitions contradict holy scripture. This movie is lazy af and not worth your money. It'll just be a waste of time. I slept through some parts because of boring and dumb scenes. Free Full apparitions de la vierge. For further thought, You should notice that the statue has a crown and the Vision does not. Praised be Jesus Christ! Now and forever. I've seen film students write better movies than this. The dialogue is basic and delivery is at times unbelievably bad. Its not quite bad enough to be one of those movies that is so bad that you like them, it is just bad. The jokes in the film are forced and unfunny. The camera shots are weird and it moves quite a bit at certain points in the movie. There are also massive plots holes in the big reveal (and you already know what is going to happen. Overall, don't pay to watch this movie. My friends and I rented it on Vudu, solely because the only review called it "reprehensible and off-putting. I wouldn't go that far, but it was definitely a waste of money.

Be the first one to say this: came from Dan Plan.

Feels like the bollywood movie i saw months ago, they have the same condition, and situation. Its a very good movie actually, you will never guess the ending. The experiment was a success. unlike this movie. This trailer gives everything away without giving away anything. Mother of god. Mary was in heaven, witnesses, there is. JESUS' APOSTLES AND DISCIPLES, when her earthly life was done, she was in her assumption in to heaven. No Moon “But you promised. ” Kristin’s words lilt down into the type of disappointment that congeals the air between us. She is holding the freshly opened second bottle of wine at her side and I feel like such an asshole. I’d promised her I wouldn’t work this weekend, our first weekend away as a couple in six years, but one email from my boss and my spine turns to cotton. I worked so hard to get this job. I dogged that law firm for years and years and now that I was finally a clerk I tested the resolve of Kristin’s support on a weekly basis. “We haven’t even been here four hours, ” she continued, shoulders drooping, “and you’re going to run off and work already? Jesus, I thought you’d at least wait till tomorrow before you, before you... ” “Before I did my job? ” I finished her sentence, making everything worse the way that only my dumb mouth can. “You. Promised. ” Her lips close into a tightly clenched, thin line and I know she’s right. I promised, and now I’m breaking the promise. I change tactics. “It’s just some super simple filing stuff, Kristin. I swear. I can knock it out after you go to bed and then it’s done. ” I know there’s not really anything I can say here that would actually let me off the hook, this is just a plank I’m going to have to walk so I say what I should have said first. “I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I know this is shitty of me, and I don’t even want to do it, but I don’t get to say No right now. Not to my boss. ” Kristin isn’t looking at me anymore but she also isn’t saying anything and I wonder if I should continue, if I should say more, but she finally responds after what feels like years of silence. “ do what you have to do. ” She sounds tired, the type of tired that says all the fight has gone out of this one and it breaks my heart when she turns around begins to walk back toward the sliding plate glass doors leading into the house. The house we rented for our weekend away. The cycling hum of the cicadas seems to pick up, as if it felt the need to fill the conversational void that just rolled into town, so I don’t hear Kristin the first time and have to ask her to turn around and repeat herself. “I said, I’m going to shower and go to bed now. Just get your work done and we can pick our vacation back up tomorrow morning. ” “I will. ” My mouth hangs open, just in case I think of some other magic phrase I can tag on to make everything just a little better but the best I can manage is, “Thank you. ” She purses her lips, shrugs, and as the faint last rays of sunlight steal traces through her hair Kristin turns around and resumes her walk to the house. Her cork sandals slap and scrape agains the patio brick and as she reaches the door, sliding it open on it’s loud, whooshing tracks, she offers one more instruction. “Just please don’t wake me when you come to bed, ” and she is inside. Behind me a gust of wind tugs at the tall hedge that encircles the property and beyond that, in the pond that the house listing falsely advertised as a lake, I hear a small splash. Water lapps at the shoreline, the cicadas are just getting warmed up, and the whisper of cars two miles away on I-80 all forcibly remind me that I am very very far from home. Dusk finally loosens its grip on the soft amber and pastel sky that you only get to see way out here in the country and I don’t even notice just how dark its gotten until Kristin flips on the upstairs bedroom light and the backyard gets washed in its still, yellow haze. It is very dark out. There is no moon out tonight. Normally, when I’m doing this kind of work, I take over an entire table with folders of papers, photos, affidavits, and any other manor of documentation, but tonight all I have is my laptop and that’s why this won’t actually be able to “knock this out” in a reasonable manor of time. I’ll get it done, I know that, but it’s going to be a pain in the ass and it’s going to take forever. I say a quick swear for my boss, count my blessings, and get to work. Sometime around 10:30 I hear the shower turn off upstairs and Kristin’s not-so-sober footsteps rap against the hardwood floors until the bedroom door closes and the house becomes a mausoleum. I keep a single lamp on in the corner, half lit, and work away on the couch vacillating between resting my computer on my legs and on the coffee table in front of me. It’s too low and I have to arch my back in a way that is sure to be coaxing a mighty hump in my spine but it keeps me awake while my body finishes metabolizing the last of the wine in my otherwise empty stomach. My boss is still awake, I get the occasional update or request for a specific form and it feels even less like a vacation now, more like a severely handicapped day at the office where instead of free coffee and bagels I am incentivized with bleeding corneas and a lack of sex. The night ticks on. It’s twelve past midnight. No end in sight for the duties at hand, but I’m stumbling into either a second wind or a fugue state and Kristin is so deeply asleep that the guilt of working on our vacation fades substantially. This doesn’t feel so wrong, this doesn’t feel any different than staying awake to read while your partner is sawing logs on the bed next to you. When Kristin wakes up and this is all done all it will have actually cost me is a night of sleep and the wrecking ball pangs of stress that prompted this whole episode will be little more than a distant memory, a faint creak in the floorboards upstairs, a- Tink What the fuck was that? I set my laptop on the coffee table and stand up. The lack of blood in my ass becomes annoyingly obvious and my knees ache as they contort back into place, not clicking back into place but not far from it. I sit down too much. I need to start exercising. What the fuck was that? I look over at the sliding glass doors, ready to see a spiderweb of cracking glass but when I lift my head I am met with opaque black planes standing sentry on the far wall of the room and the lamp light transmutes them from windows to mirrors where I stare back at myself. Like an idiot. There is too much light in here, and too little out there. There’s no moon. I walk over to the door, cup my hands around my face, and peer out. Faint outlines of the patio furniture and what I know is the hedge but wouldn’t be able to guess at if I had not already seen it in proper daylight ghost themselves against my own stubborn reflection. I stare harder, willing my pupils to dilate and reveal more of the backyard but the longer I stare the less I see. The patio’s spectral vigils diffuse slowly into the black backdrop of my own reflection and I turn my attention instead back to the room behind me. The lamp and its harsh blue led bulbs put cigarettes out in my eyes and when I squeeze my eyelids shut I hear it again. Tink. It takes a fraction of a second to whip my head and I’m surprised I don’t sever my spine with the fervor because what I just heard, I am sure of it now, was something small and hard clacking against the glass of the sliding door. I don’t want to take my eyes off the backyard, regardless of the fact that none of it is actually visible to me, but I do and I find the locking latch on the door. It makes a Richter triggering thump when it snaps into a locking position but when that same sound fails to echo in the house or shake any china from the kitchen shelves I know I’m being dramatic. Silence rings from the glass doors, mocks me, and when I sit back down at my laptop I am a humbled man. It’s just the house settling, cool night air. Professor Me is probably right and I pull my laptop back onto my knees. Two new emails from my boss. The date a witness met with a composite artist differs on two accounts and the make and model of a car they claim to have seen has changed since their original statement. I start searching through my computer for the old statements and as I do the lamp in the corner turns to daggers again and the light stirs a deep and misplaced agitation in me. I set my laptop back on the table like I want the lamp to see and I get up and walk across to the corner of the room to switch it off. A big circular bakelite knob sits halfway up its stalk, a stark relic against the viciously modern led bulbs that seem to scream instead of glow. Something old, Something new, Something screaming, Something bl- Tink My hand, still hovering the better part of an inch from the worn brown lamp switch, freezes. There is a jagged ringing still hanging in my ears as the glass sings lightly. One liquid movement of my neck, a near gyroscopic separation from the rest of my body, and I was in a staredown with the glass doors. My fingers closed down, looking for a bakelite knob that was still too far away and when they find nothing my arm spasms and jerks forward. The lamp rocks on it’s small base as my hand knocks into it but I still do not take my eyes off the door. I finally manage to wrap my fingers around the thin, teetering post of the lamp aided by my reflection and here, I freeze again. If there is something- no, someone, outside then right now they can see me but I cannot see them. I should switch off the light. I should expose them, I could even chase them. I could... I could what? The options never get the chance to be laid out on the table because now I am too afraid to turn the big, round knob on the lamp, the knob that will cut the current going to one harsh blue led bulb that now feels safe. Safer than the dark, anyway. If I switch off that light and my reflection is replaced with the silhouette of, I’m not sure, what would I do? The door is locked, Kristin is asleep, and if there is a knife in the kitchen I’m positive that I couldn’t find it on the first guess; but for now, as long as this light is on, the moment is stuck in suspended animation and there is no first move to be made. Click I switch off the light. The ghosts of the patio furniture are full-body apparitions now, stoney and cold, and I wait. I wait for movement, for another sound, for anything aside from nothing but nothing is all that happens and I take increasingly ginger steps across the matted blue carpet towards the door. I log the silence for a moment, glance back out at the stillen backyard, and then back to the room. All I can see is my laptop and the achingly loud light that flows from the screen and embosses the sofa. I contemplate turning the lamp back on, because I suddenly do not like how dark this all feels, and it must be an extension of that feeling that causes me so much unease at turning my back to the glass door. I have to turn back around, it is not a feeling of being watched but a feeling of not being able to watch. The backyard is unchanged when I do but that is not comfort, cold or otherwise, so I cup my hands around my eyes once more and press them to the glass. My breath fogs the window on the first glance and I have to wipe it away with my sleeve and return, lungs tightened. This close to the door, I can hear the faint hum of the cicadas pelting against the siding. The patio furniture looks frigid in the starlight, there is no moon, and leaves furrowed in the hedgerow seem to flirt with movement but it is only the soreness in my eyes stretching and pinching the world around me. I lean away from the window, my muscles are tired in a way that lets me know they will be sore later and I place my hands on the small of my back to crack it when I hear it again. The noise easily rises above the sound of my spine adjusting and before I can think otherwise I’m back against the window looking outside. I exhale and steel my lungs before pressing my face to the glass but as soon as I do have to inhale with a sharp and almost wheezing gasp because Something was moving in the hedge. Something was in the hedge, or moving through it. Something was Out There. Primally, I step back from the plate glass and even now, most of a second later, the hedge flutters with the waining last signs of its disturbance. As if it is shivering. Thunk. I work the latch upright and pull the door aside. It’s loud enough to wake Kristin but I do not think it will wake Kristin and I do not think anything else either because tonight spirits and hidden frustration have laid her mind in a grave so deep that no noise from this world could breach the packed soil and reach her. The symphony of cicadas returns to full, deafening volume and the door is still sliding open but it is lost in their chorus, as is the soft scraping of my foot stepping on the patio brick and the rushed cadence of my heart sounding alarm bells in my chest. I can’t hear it, but I can feel dried weeds flaking to crumbs under my feet the closer I get to the hedge. I walk slowly, cautiously. I don’t know how long it takes me to get to the hedge but I know I take my time and stop at the table to nearly turn back. This is stupid, I could be hearing nothing more than junebugs flying stupidly against the window, tapping the glass with their mindless skulls that they keep on the outside of their fucking heads and simply flying away. Whether or not that is what I think I reach the reach the hedge, but for a very long time I only stand and listen. Cicadas. My hand forms a blade again and I slip it into the knotted billow of twigs and spines that make up its branches and tear it apart, slowly and surgically, when the splash shakes my arms away. I take several full steps back, giving the anonymous author of this splash a wide birth, and I am forgetting to breathe. Swiftly, I cross back to the hedge and tear at it again, less carefully this time, and beyond it the pond is a swirling black void that would sooner swallow the moonless night sky than betray what ripples still might be racing across its surface. I pull more and as I do I can see the full shape of the shore, stretching left and right into the darkness and at night this pond does feel like a lake. It feels endless and impossibly deep, as if the stars glinting on its veneer were closer to getting wet than the silt of its deepest trenches were to turning to dust. That thing happens, like when you stare into a campfire or a babbling brook and all the interconnected parts of your brain loose their fingers from one another leaving you driftless. That thing happens. The pulsing whir of the cicadas dissolves to background static, faint and lulling, and then it is gone entirely. My hypnosis deepens until even the gentle lapping of the water on its shore, rolling and breaking, dips below the threshold of my attention. The stillness reveals something unsettling, something hard to place but as I do place it the trance breaks like a champagne flute on concrete. This is a pond. Ponds don’t have tides. That water should be completely still. My breathing becomes a shiver and as I listen closer, more nervously, I am hearing more than water beating the shore. I am hearing movement. Movement, out in the water, not like something was swimming but like something was gliding. Gliding through the glossy black of the pond with a horrifying stealth that left very little wake and even less sound. In the wrenching guts of my imagination I saw a black eel, slicing through the water with blood-red, lidless eyes. Working overtime, my mind superimposed the thought onto the dark of the water like it was filling in blanks, but I do not get a chance to truly see that because now I am hearing more. Gurgling, like steel bolts in a wooden chest sliding and scraping against each other, rose to a rasp out in the veil of the night. My eyes bloomed and the hairs on the back of my neck stood with such aggression that it felt they would tear themselves from my flesh and fall to the ground, ripped tissue still clinging to their roots. The rasp became a note and the note gurgled again, like it was clawing its way up whatever terrible throat was freeing it, grasping for purchase against a bloodied esophagus and finally spilling forth in a wash of phlegm and very audible agony. The note drifted as it labored on with the sounds of vocal cords that were not muscle, but were in fact rusted chains, and it began to search, to try. It reached upward and fell again before it twisted and folded itself into what was clearly, indistinguishably, inarguably, a vowel. “Ahhhhh. ” The voice had attempted, before trailing off as if it had run out of breath. My jaw snaps open as I leap back and I am sure a yelp, some cry of panic, will escape but I am silent and not by choice. I cannot yet scream. The voice, if it is a voice, tries again, “Ahhhhhh, Ahhhhh, ” becoming clearer now, less labored and, to my horror, somewhat human. “Ah, Ah, Ah. ” It is quicker now, louder, and much more human. I don’t like this and I want to turn and run inside and wake Kristin and put her in the car and leave but the voice drags on. “Ah, Aahhhh, Ahhlll. ” My shivers turn to tremors and the voice is changing, what at first seemed to belong to the sandpapered timbre of an old man is getting younger. Smoother. It is improving. The gurgling rasp that sent splinters through my bones is barely a fry, and the voice drags on. “Ahl. Ahl. Ehl. El. ” I do finally take a step back now, my own morbid curiosity losing its first bit of ground in a battle against my sense of survival. Whatever is out there is starting to, trying to, or even learning to sound human, but I wouldn’t gamble a glance let alone my life that whatever’s out there is human at all. “El. El, ” it prattles on, growing in both volume and what is beginning to sound like excitement. Yes, whatever is out there sounds excited. “EL. EL. ” It is nearing a shout now, I feel for my cell phone in my pocket but it is inside by my laptop and oh fucking well because what good would it have done me? Kristin is dead asleep and who would I call? The cops? And tell them what, that I was hearing voices? From a pond? The truth is I don’t know what the fuck I would do if I had my phone but I am very certain I need to go where it is. I need to go inside. I take two or three more steps back before I feel safe enough to turn around, but even then I do not. I am almost to the door, almost sure that this has all been my imagination and that I really needed to turn it in for the night when the voice starts again, quieter now. “Hhhhhhhel. ” The H was raspy, clattering, like it’s owner could not decipher precisely how to make the sound but in two more passes it had learned. “Hellll. Hell. ” I reached behind me to open the glass door and found that I had not closed it. The ground beneath me was littered with jagged and piercing pebbles that bore into my bare feet and had I more brainpower to allocate to the sensation I might have suspected that I had stepped on a piece of glass because the pain of this step surges up into my calf like fire. Helll, ” the voice insisted. NO. NO, my mind screamed. I purposefully overcompensate when I lift my feet behind me to step into the house, not wanting to trip on the ledge and find myself suddenly prone, unsure of what danger I was actually in, only sure that I was in Some amount of danger. Both feet land on soft carpet, one after another, and I keep my eyes on the hedge as I extend my hand to find the sliding door. My fingers wrap around the angled handle, but before I begin to pull it shut I hear the voice once more, crisp and calm. “Help. ” The word is spoken, not asked, and the P is a confused plosive that spits water, as if the mouth of this creature dipped too low into the pool of obsidian it waded in and spat as it croaked its haunting plea. “Hello? ” I cry out before I can think not to but it’s too late. I want to shut the door now, more than I’ve ever wanted anything but every fiber of me is begging, praying that this can all be explained and so I step back out into the patio. The rocks press into my surely bleeding feet and I reach them behind me and scrape them against the lip of the doorway to clear them from the pits they have dug into me. They rock with pain again and one is stuck, drilled into my foot. I aim to dig it out but I am moving again. There is no response yet, I am to the table and here I stop. “Hello? Is someone out there? ” My words have very little to echo off of aside from the house behind me and so my cry feels sterile, like I am on the moon or at the very least very utterly alone. But I am not alone. I take one more step, arriving at the hedge, and I want to ask again because I want this to be explainable. I want this to be a case of Me Getting Worked Up Over Nothing or someone actually needing help or a prank Oh God I would be so happy if this were nothing but a prank but that ship sails and hope topples because when I hear the voice again it is my voice. It is my own voice coming from not my body and it is, right now, talking to me. “Hello” not me says. The word is even, barely accented, foreign on the tongue of its speaker and before that alone has time enough to break my resolve I can hear the sound of water falling and breaking as whatever is just beyond the hedge, whatever is no more than three or four feet away from me, begins to stand up out of the water. “Hello, ” it offers again but I am already running towards the door. More rocks dig into my feet and are carried with me into the house where I pull the sliding door closed like there is a bear on the other side. I no more than have it locked, a bead of sweat breaks rank on my brow and slides down my nose, when the sharp and sudden Tink of something hitting the plate glass causes my heart to stutter and spark painfully out of time. Tink, Tink. Two more projectiles collide against the door and my mind goes to the pebbles on the patio. I double check the lock, twisting the latch to the point of aching, trying to lock it harder. Lock it more. There is another Tink followed by two more in quick succession and when I look past the glass boundary in front of me the hedge is morphing, stretching around something that is pushing its way through. Scrambling, nearly falling, I rush for the front door and find it is not locked either, How am I so fucking stupid, but I lock it and thank God that this door has a deadbolt I can use. The latch on the sliding glass suddenly seems like a joke and I wish it were 3 inch thick steel. I wish there were no door there at all. The door in the living room is alight and I want to run straight upstairs but I have to get my phone. I have to call the police. It’s right there by my computer, maybe ten steps there and back, but the Tink s are getting louder, and closer together. The urge to yell and wake Kristin surfaces, but I am too afraid to make a sound, to announce myself. My breath is a full shudder now, quaking and creaking in and out of my lungs in short blasts, when I decide to turn the corner and make a run for it. I turn my head around the corner first, waiting for a lull in whatever is throwing rocks at my door like I was waiting for an enemy to reload. I can see my phone sitting next to my laptop but it might as well be a mile away because I can also see out into the shadowy yard beyond where something was crawling. No, not crawling, but dragging itself across the bricks with its legs, are those legs, dragging lifelessly behind it. Its arms, are those arms, were locked upright, or possibly didn’t have elbows to bend at all or perhaps it had dozens of elbows and they were all locked in a dogged and hellish drive to drag itself right to my door and right to me. As it got closer I could see the water shimmer on its sickly grey skin, what other features it might have had were obscured in the darkness, there was no moon, but I swore I could make out the texture of hair, or very coarse fur, or possibly even scales. The blackness of the yard made it appear to be slicked with crude oil that dripped, viscous and slow, from its body in long black trails across the patio. With a surprising balance it bent one arm, or rather coiled it, up to its mouth and withdrew something that it swung with a full wind at the window. I jumped as it made contact with the glass and watched with cold blood as it reached back into its mouth and crooked its neck to again pry something from its maw. It swung its arm in a windmill fashion again and the object that struck the window cracked against the glass, fell, and bounced lightly on the brick below. I followed it with unblinking eyes as it dropped and rolled a few inches in a circular patter but couldn’t make out, or didn’t want to make out what I was seeing. It looked long and conical, tapering to a needles point at one end and all at once the wounds on the soles of my feet sent a dizzying signal of pain and realization that finally allowed me to look away. I slid back around the corner, holding my body tight against the wall, lifted one foot, and picked at the rocks embedded in my heels. They sang in agony as my fingers studied for them and when I found the first one, seeping blood as I had suspected, it was a live wire. My nerves sang but I pinched the tips of my fingers around one that was sunk deep into the muscle and it pulled out in a long, smooth track. Shaking from the pain, I brought the object closer to my face to inspect it in the ambient light from my laptop from the room next door. It did not look, or feel like a rock. It was maybe half an inch long, polished smooth, jagged at one end and terrifying sharp at the other. I pricked my finger at its point to test the edge when the dawning fear that this was not a rock took hold. This was not a rock at all. This was a tooth. This was a fang. Whatever that thing was out there it was ripping its own needly fangs from its skull and throwing them at the door. Fuck my phone. I darted up the stairs but halfway up my path the blood from my foot denied me traction on the hardwood steps and I slipped and tumbled down hard. My head racked against the post holding the handrail and landed with a concussive thud against the linoleum entryway floor. The fang on the ground bounced and rattled beside me as I dropped and when I opened my eyes I could hear scraping on the glass door, like teeth on a chalkboard. I look upstairs, expecting to see the bedroom light flick on but Kristin remains miraculously asleep so I shout. “Kristin! Kriiiiiistiiiiiin! ” Tink. Tink Tink Tink. “Kriiiiistin! Kristin wake up! ” Tink. Outside the creature screams, in my own muffled voice, “Krrrrriiiiiiiiii. Krrrriiiiiiiiiiissssstsss” Tink. “KRISTIN WAKE THE FUCK UP! ” My voice breaks to a squeak on Fuck and it rips at my throat. Outside the creature moans. “Krrriiiistin. Kristin. Wwwwaaaaaaake. ” The door rattles, the lock holds, but the Not Me scrrraaaapes at the door with squealing nails and I begin to cry. I try to stand but my head is wheeling and my leg suddenly blazes with pain and I cannot move it. “Kriiiiiistin! ” I am sobbing, and the door rattles with violent bangs now. The lock clutches at its latch with increasing strain, the metallic hammering of its catch pinging and cracking over and over. “Kristin. KRISTIN. Wwaaaaaaake Uhhhhh. ” The Not Me wails. I pull my body the rest of the way down the stairs on my elbows, my knee explodes in pain that lightnings all the way up my leg every time my foot falls to the next step and I mewl with every movement. When I am finally down, sweating profusely now, I spin around as carefully but as quickly and I can and begin to try and pull myself up the stairs backwards. Kristin has her cell phone up there and if I can get up there, if I can just make it up there and bang on the door and hopefully wake her comatose ass up then we both might just live to see another fucking day. With my one good leg I push against the wall and try to reach up the handrail but my world is spinning around me and my eyes can’t focus on anything for more than a few seconds before my stomach turns and I have to squeeze them shut again to keep from wretching. KRISTIN, ” the Not Me exclaims again with growing excitement as I opt to roll over on my stomach and climb up the stairs. “KRISTIN. KRISTIN WAKE. ” I reach my hand up as many steps as I can and pull on the lip of the board with as much grip as I can but my hand slips in my own fucking blood from my own fucking foot. I wince as I absent-mindedly attempt to wipe the blood from my hand on the pant of my Bad Leg and swiftly adjust to cleaning my hand on my shirtsleeve. Outside the monster moans and slams at the glass in shrieking fits. Its voice is gravel and smoke again, churning and changing beneath a thick film of clotted mucus and filth. I push against the door with my good leg again and reach for the step, my fingers find enough purchase to hold on but as soon as I try to give it even a fraction of my weight it slips free again and my leg screams, burns, electrifies. It’s Too. Fucking. Slick. Not Me’s voice is lifting high into a pitching scream, almost a lady’s scream, and I’m shaking as I pull my shirt sleeve up again to try and clean my hands on it. Shaking from pain, shaking from fear, shaking from knowing. Knowing that I could be about to die. However, when I look over at the sleeve with my hazing, darkening vision everything suddenly stands still. My shirt sleeve is not clean, but it is not smeared with my blood either, and the step may have blood on it but more than anything I realize that what my hand is slipping in not blood but water. Pond water. I sink. The door rattles and either shatters or the latch breaks or both by the time I put it all together. The front door was not locked. It was never locked. I was outside for so long before I heard the splash, the splash of the creature getting back in the water. The front door was unlocked, and Kristin may be a deep sleeper but she is not asleep and there is no moon. In the living room I heard a sound like wet velcro ripping apart and two long, bloody fangs crack against the back wall to my left. I let myself slide all the way to the floor again, and weep. The carpet squishes and cowls as the creature drags its sopping legs and before it rounds the corner it utters one perfect impression of Kristin as it says in a dull, even mimic, “Help. ”.
