Ok, this little movie here started absolutely great, amazing execution for such a production, lovely tension build up, and managed to keep up this fast pace for quite a while. But the last part, it is quite disappointing actually, perhaps there was less room for imagination and they had to settle for an ending that did not deliver, created huge plot holes and had the viewer genuinely asking, What is happening and why?
Dark Light managed to create a tiny world for itself, with its own rules, but most of it went down the drain once the third act came in place, and I can't stop wondering how things derailed so much. I am still going to recommend it for it is an effort far better than most, even tho it feels like a let down in the very end, it does deserve more attention and perhaps some praise as well.
In the future, I hope the people involved in the making of Dark Light, take some extra time in order to offer their next projects a more constant tone, till the credits show up.

Story: Lost in America is a feature documentary on the issue of youth homelessness in America, following director Rotimi Rainwater, a former homeless youth, and his team as they travel the country to shine a light on the epidemic of youth homelessness- highlighting issues like: human trafficking, the foster care system, youth rejected because of their sexuality, domestic violence, abuse, and more. It also examines what many organizations, politicians and other public figures are doing (or not doing) to help these youth. Featuring interviews with Jewel (executive producer), Rosario Dawson (executive producer), Jon Bon Jovi, Halle Berry, Sanaa Lathan and others, the project has captured the attention of dozens of organizations and members of Congress that have since become involved. In addition, the upcoming film campaign has been sponsored by the organization Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands' giving program. More than a film, Lost in America is a movement. It started with one man's journey to shine a light on the realities of youth living on the streets. Then, a group of filmmakers formed a team dedicated to telling the story of this important journey. Mas os planos dos alienígenas foram descobertos e impedidos a tempo.  No entanto, Xavier teve que se retirar para os confins do espaço enquanto se recuperava do ataque da Ninhada. Durante este período os Novos Mutantes ficaram sem a sua liderança, e foi aí que a "confusão" começou... Mas vamos falar sobre isso depois. Sem o Professor X por perto, os Novos Mutantes passaram a seguir a liderança de Emma Frost, que também era a líder dos Satânicos, o grupo rival dos jovens. Eventualmente, passam a ser comandados por Magneto, mas ficaram apreensivos com o "método" usado pelo mutante arquinimigo dos X-Men. Quem faz parte da formação original? A primeira equipe dos Novos Mutantes era composta por Míssil, Karma, Miragem, Lupina e Mancha Solar. Míssil (Samuel Zachery Guthrie) Samuel tem a habilidade de voar numa velocidade inacreditavelmente alta, fazendo com que se assemelhe a um verdadeiro míssil. Míssil ( Cannonball, em inglês) é um dos melhores amigos de Roberto da Costa (Mancha Solar) e, além de ter sido um dos primeiros membros dos Novos Mutantes, também chegou a liderar o X-Force e integrar oficialmente os X-Men. Atualmente, atua nos Vingadores, integrando a equipe por convite do Capitão América.  Karma (Xi'an Coy Manh) O poder de Karma é possuir mentalmente o corpo de outras pessoas. Além disso, essa mutante domina muito bem a telepatia, conseguindo ler mentes e projetar seus pensamentos para outras pessoas. Os seus poderes podem atingir facilmente um raio de 400km.  Karma é natural do Vietnã e, inicialmente, foi considerada a líder dos Novos Mutantes, principalmente pelo fato de ser a mais velha e experiente do grupo. Miragem (Dani Moonstar) Assim como Karma, Miragem também é uma poderosa telepata (ler e projetar pensamentos nas mentes de outras pessoas, por exemplo). Mas, destaca-se por ter a habilidade da ilusão telepática, ou seja, consegue criar ilusões realísticas para confundir seus adversários. Miragem ainda consegue assimilar quais são os piores pesadelos das pessoas e usá-los nas suas projeções telepáticas para atormentar e desestabilizar os seus inimigos. Dani Moonstar é uma índia Cheyenne e sempre manteve uma simbiose muito forte com a natureza e os animais. E além dos Novos Mutantes, Moonstar ainda fez parte da S. H. I. E. L. D, do X-Force e dos X-Men. Lupina (Rahne Sinclair) O principal poder de Lupina ( Wolfsbane, no original) é se transformar numa loba, fazendo com que o seu dom mutante se assemelhe bastante às tradicionais lendas de lobisomens. Mas, diferente dos mitos, Rahne é capaz de manter a sua consciência humana durante a metamorfose. Assumindo a forma de lobo, a mutante potencializa a sua força, velocidade e reflexos. Além disso, os seus sentidos ficam muito mais apurados, sendo inclusive capaz de detectar padrões de calor, feromônios, ondas ultravioletas e infravermelhas. Mancha Solar (Roberto da Costa) E temos um brasileiro entre os Novos Mutantes! Mancha Solar ( Sunspot, em inglês) tem o poder de absorver a energia solar e usá-la para aumentar a sua força. Além de conseguir voar, Roberto também tem uma força física acima do normal, capaz de destruir objetos extremamente resistentes com muita facilidade. Posteriormente, Mancha Solar ainda é capaz de emitir raios de plasma. Uma curiosidade interessante: Roberto da Costa (Mancha Solar) foi o primeiro personagem brasileiro criado pela Marvel.  A segunda turma dos Novos Mutantes Com o passa do tempo, novos integrantes são apresentados aos Novos Mutantes, fazendo parte do grupo principal, entre eles estão: Magma (Amara Aquilla) Esta mutante tem a capacidade de controlar lavas vulcânicas, fazendo com que o seu corpo se transforme numa verdadeira tocha humana. Além da pirocinese, Magma, que pertence a uma colônia do Império Romano, ainda consegue manipular as placas tectônicas e tem uma impressionante capacidade regenerativa. Magia (Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina) Sua principal habilidade é criar discos de teletransporte, responsáveis por fazer com que possa se locomover instantaneamente entre diferentes lugares. Não apenas no espaço, mas também se locomover através do tempo. Magia consegue viajar para qualquer época, seja passado ou futuro.  Outros poderes de Magia incluem: projeção astral, escudos psiônicos, controle do Limbo e domínio de feitiçaria. Warlock Pertence a uma raça alienígena que tem a capacidade de infectar organismos vivos com um virus tecnorgânico. Este virus faz com que o seu hospedeiro se transforme em um ser tecnorgânico. Além disso, ainda é capaz de assumir qualquer tipo de forma física. Devido a sua natureza, Warlock também é muito inteligente. No grupo dos Novos Mutantes, ele é considerado um dos mais simpáticos e ingênuos. Cifra (Doug Ramsey) A habilidade deste mutante é a comunicação, ou seja, capaz de assimilar qualquer tipo de idioma ou linguagem. Aliás, foi graças ao dom de Cifra que os mutantes do Instituto X conseguiram se comunicar com Warlock e fazê-lo compreender a cultura terrestre. Por não ter poderes físicos, Cifra sempre participava das missões em parceria com Warlock, fazendo com que desenvolvessem uma relação de amizade muito forte. Aliança com X-Force e Cable Após os eventos da X-Tinction Agenda, que levou a morte de Warlock e a separação de vários os membros do time original, os Novos Mutantes remanescentes se uniram ao X-Force sob comando de Cable, o mutante soldado. O grupo era formado por Cable, Dominó, Míssil, Shatterstar, Apache, Siryn, Mancha Solar e Wolverine. Assim, do grupo original dos Novos Mutantes, apenas Sam Guthrie e Roberto da Costa que permaneceram juntos. Academia X: Esquadrão Novos Mutantes: a segunda fase do grupo Após muitos anos separados, os Novos Mutantes acabam por formar algumas novas alianças em determinados arcos da história dos X-Men. Em 2003 foi lançada numa nova série de quadrinhos que foram considerados a segunda fase dos Novos Mutantes. First of all, it’s sexist as hell. If a man likes fish and goes fishing every weekend, he’s a fisherman. If a guy enjoys deer and goes hunting all the time, he’s a hunter. If a dude is obsessed with video games and spends all his free time making YouTube videos on how to 100% the game, he’s a gamer. But when have you ever heard a woman who likes horses and rides horses being called an equestrian? No, we’re “horse girls. ” And we’re “crazy. ” I’m high-functioning autistic and my special interest is horses. I rode them growing up and really bonded with my gelding. I rode in shows and had quite the resumé. I was always bullied for liking horses, though. The boys would make crude jokes about killing my horse with their shotgun and how I probably committed acts of bestiality. But did anyone make fun of the autistic boy who wouldn’t stop talking about robots? Of course not. He was “scientific, ” and “imaginative. ” They definitely didn’t call me an athlete, and that’s the “horse girl” stigma. Now Hollywood is perpetuating this with a movie literally titled Horse Girl. They’re using mental illness and an overdone sexist stereotype to create entertainment. It’s sickening. This whole thing makes my blood boil and I’ve since stopped being vocal about my special interest in fear of being judged or mocked. It’s upsetting how cruel humanity can be sometimes.

The costumes, the homes, the furniture, the characters, the streets, the turn-of-the-century atmosphere- just wonderful! The story is quite sweet and there isn't an unpleasant moment to be found.
A very young and fresh Judy Garland is perfect in every way. The rest of the cast of Hollywood pros are terrific also. Several classic songs highlight this great American film, and I highly recommend it.

It's sentimental favorite time here on Hot Toasty Rag. I'm sure everyone has their own favorite Judy Garland impersonator, but at my house, there's no comparison to my mom. And while she has been known to wave her hands in the air during "The Man That Got Away" or "I Could Go On Singing, it's "The Trolley Song" from Meet Me in St. Louis that is her signature Judy Garland performance. Years before watching the movie for the first time, I knew the "Clang Clang Clang" song by heart because of my mom. Therefore, my review for Meet Me in St. Louis is going to be unapologetically biased. Ironically, she doesn't even really like the movie! I'm the one who insists on keeping our VHS copy.
Judy Garland, Lucille Bremer, and Margaret O'Brien are sisters in an all-American family in the early 1900s. Judy and Lucille have romantic problems to worry about, and Margaret doesn't always play nice with the other neighborhood kids. Add in Marjorie Main, the family's grumpy maid, two other children, a father-in-law, and a new invention called the telephone, and both parents, Leon Ames and Mary Astor, have their hands full! The film is chock-full of songs, with old-fashioned standards like the title song and "Under the Bamboo Tree, as well as new songs for the film, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." While the movie is upbeat and fun, it's also a little sad; Judy sings the Christmas song to a sobbing Margaret who has just destroyed her own snowman.
I always feel sorry for Leon Ames's character in the film. Not only is he overrun by females in the house, but he's constantly put down, stifled, criticized, and left out of important family discussions. At that time, the turn of the 20th century, men were believed to rule their own roosts, but maybe they didn't. Meet Me in St. Louis is such a heartwarming piece of Americana; maybe it was realistic for the father figure to have less of a say in his house than the overwhelming majority. In any case, my heart still goes out to Leon, a character actor who was normally overlooked.
I love this one, despite the sadness, because there were so many famous moments I was taught as a kid and looked forward to seeing for the first time onscreen after years of build-up. This might not wind up be your favorite Judy Garland movie, but you can rent it and see if you like it.

The Smith family leads a comfortable upper-middle class life. Alonzo Smith ( Leon Ames) and his wife Anna ( Mary Astor) have four daughters: Rose ( Lucille Bremer), Esther ( Judy Garland), Agnes ( Joan Carroll), and Tootie ( Margaret O'Brien); and a son, Lon Jr. (Henry H. Daniels, Jr. ). Esther, the second eldest daughter, is in love with the boy next door, John Truitt ( Tom Drake), although he does not notice her at first. Rose is expecting a phone call during which she hopes to be proposed to by Warren Sheffield (Robert Sully), and is embarrassed when not only does Warren fail to propose, but the entire family is present as she takes the call during dinner. Without bothering to investigate, Esther confronts John, physically attacking him and scolding him for being a "bully. " When Esther returns home, Tootie confesses that what really happened was that John was trying to protect Tootie and Agnes from the police after a dangerous prank they pulled went wrong. Upon learning the truth, Esther immediately dashes to John's house next door to apologize, and they share their first kiss. Esther is devastated when John cannot take her as his date, due to his leaving his tuxedo at the tailor's and being unable to get it back. At the ball, Esther and Rose plot to ruin the evening of Warren's date and Rose's rival Lucille Ballard ( June Lockhart) by filling up her dance card with losers. But when Lucille turns out to be interested in Lon, leaving Rose and Warren together, Esther switches her dance card with Lucille's and instead dances in Lucille's place with the clumsy and awkward partners. After being rescued by Grandpa, Esther is overjoyed when John unexpectedly turns up after somehow managing to obtain a tuxedo, and the pair dance together for the rest of the evening. Later on, John proposes to Esther and she accepts, but their future is uncertain because she must still move to New York. Esther returns home to an upset Tootie. She is soothed by the poignant "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. " Tootie, however, becomes more upset at the prospect of the family's move and runs downstairs, out into the cold to destroy the snowmen they have made. Also, it has the same problem as Super 8, the unsubtle period detail. I didn't need to know that Jim's daughter was upset that the Beatles broke up, or that she dresses as a hippie. It rarely happens and isn't as bad as in Super 8, but why can't any one in Hollywood make subtle period detail! Then again this film does have the director of the Grinch.
Many scenes are done well like the scenes of just the astronauts in the ship. The moon scene would've been very good, but they had to ruin it with Jim's fantasy of being on the moon. The scenes of they're family's got irritating after a while. It doesn't help when you keep cutting from the main story of the movie to people watching TV and listening to the radio. Also what was with the son in military camp? He has no lines of dialogue and does exactly what everyone else who isn't the main character does. He didn't need to be in this movie, or at least have something to do!
The box that creates the oxygen in the ship has no explanation. It would in real life, but I would like to know how a box made of tape and plastic bags can seamlessly make air out of nothing!
Then there is the end narration, which sounds like it came out of a bad teen film.
I'll watch this movie again maybe in a few months but until then, I'll stick with Armageddon.
