J'ai quelques réserves sur l'utilisation volumineuse de la musique, qui n'a pas toujours sa place dans un duel de dialogues bien troussés. J'ai soupiré à plusieurs reprises à cause de ça mais c'est un bon moment, un film... Le bonheur par les fleurs! Voilà l'objectif que s'est fixé un laboratoire en créant une espèce végétale génétiquement modifiée dont le parfum doit rendre heureux son propriétaire à condition de s'en occuper régulièrement. Which is considerably better. The english dub did a great job but not as well as the original japanese voice actors. 飛び降りサラリーマンの3人目がミキ昂生. Breadsword-sensei has blessed us with more teachings. We must watch. Very very good 🖒. For me, Satoshi Kon's best film is Paprika. That said, all of his films are ones to be highly recommended, they Paprika especially can have a tendency to be challenging, which can delight or alienate viewers, but they are gorgeously animated, compelling and I think very unique. Tokyo Godfathers is not quite as good as Paprika but it is a truly beautiful film and of Kon's work I'd go as far to say that it also is his most accessible. The animation is beautiful and detailed if in a different way to the more surrealistic styles of Perfect Blue and Paprika, here very intricate with very expressive character design, and very fitting with the film's tone. The music is memorable and beautifully composed, complimenting the story perfectly. The dialogue is thoughtful with some humorous touches, matching the nature of the story that is full of charm and pathos- bringing some optimism and hope into a cold world and society- without ever feeling mawkish or dull. The story is slow-folding but in a deliberate sense. The characters are full of emotions and we identify with them no matter the flaws, in short they are very true to life, none of the idealistic stereotypes I've seen all too often. Hanna is the one that stood out to me the most. The voice acting is as dynamic as you'd expect, more so in the Japanese dub rather than the English. All in all, beautiful and highly recommended. 9/10 Bethany Cox.

Someone previously attacked the English for being Norman/Saxon in origin and for being invaders. That is a very simplistic view of things. For a start William Wallace himself was descended from a minor Norman lord. Does this mean he too was an invader ? most of the lowland Scots had Anglo-Saxon blood in them. The easiest way to view Englands invasions is that England was a potentially powerful nation but as long as it had enemies who were able to mount serious raids (and often did) She could not influence the world. it is no coincidence that when the British Isles were united they went on to forge the greatest empire the World had seen. So when you slam someone for being proud of Englands military achievements bear in mind that those military achievements laid the base on which the cultural achievements lay.
The Irish extras refused to play a part where they were fighting for the English, so Mel Gibson changed the scene to suit.

And being an anime fan I went to the premiere. Of course, need not to be mentioned that movie was damn awesome and this isn't about the movie. As soon as the show began, a line was displayed as "Shout out to all otakus who made this movie possible". The theater was housefull and I swear each one present in at that time shouted his heart out. From watching it on small screens, to shouting for anime in a theatre.... Indian anime community has came a really long way. From small scenes to emotional ending, a hall full of people sharing same emotions is really something to cherish, especially when it's anime not "Cartoon". I can really go on and on as in how good it felt to see so many otakus together but for the time being! I want to say that I'm really lucky to get a chance to watch this movie in my city. Thank you anime community India. We might be small but we can really do wonders. Kudos to everyone!! And let's take this motion on and turn anime into a real thing in India! indiawantsanime.

Right now, every time I stare at the poster paper that we got for seeing the fan screening, I can't help but feel a lingering sense of sadness. When I watched Tenki No Ko, it was the greatest visual experience of my life. While I emphathizsed with the story, the animation brought tears to my eyes. Even now, I'm awestruck by the beauty of Shinkai's film. And a part of me is sad because even if I do watch the movie in theatres again I'll probably never experience that feeling of pure wonder unless I have amnesia. The emotions are hard to describe. It's almost like a longing feeling. Don't worry, it's not so intense that's it's interfering with my quality of life, I am just intrigued that I feel this way. I guess the fact that it won't last forever is what makes it beautiful in the first place. I'm curious, have any of you ever felt this way? Not just with this movie, but after watching any movie.

This film was a great follow up to the massive hit Your Name and I think does a great job of showing that Ghibli and Miyazaki aren't the only names to look into when it comes to Japanese animation. RADWIMPS is great again providing the soundtrack which is honestly one of my favorites of the decade for a film. Safe to say I'll be buying a Blu-ray of this when it releases here in North America.

One, this film is obviously fictional considering uh There Are No Sunshine Girls People!
Two, this is a film inspired by climate change and weather. It infers to people what can happen if we let the world go crazy like it is. the weather throughout is creating a miserable environment for the people of Tokyo so it makes you wonder if that what we want to live with.
Three, its a romance fictional movie obviously not sending a message about climate change focus on the films story and film-making not your agenda.

" For me, one of the signs of adulthood is when you realize that nobody has things figured out. Even the most put-together person has demons, weak spots, flaws. Anyone who acts like they're perfect, or acts like they have all the answers, are basically waving red flags around announcing the contrary.  This is the feeling I got from "Saint Frances, " a first feature from Alex Thompson, with screenplay by Kelly O'Sullivan, who also stars, as Bridget, an adrift thirtysomething, watching her peer group "settle down" around her, wondering what the hell happened to her life. Admittedly, this is a pretty well-trod path, and so the eccentricity comes from the feeling that every character—not just Bridget, but everyone—is in just a little bit over their heads. So many films offer up pre-packaged easily-digestible ideas, with risk-averse empowerment messages. It's truly refreshing to watch a film where nobody has anything figured out, where life proceeds messily and imperfectly. "Saint Frances" is unpredictable in a very human way. Advertisement In the opening scene, Bridget sits at a party, listening to a man describe a dream he had the other night. He seems to find his dream fascinating. When she tells him she's a "server, " he says, supportively, "You're still in your twenties. It gets better. " "I'm 34. " Embarrassed, the man comes up with an excuse to leave the conversation. The opener is spookily accurate in its observational power. Even casual conversations come loaded with preconceived notions and assumptions. If she is still a waitress at 34, then she is dangerously unambitious, and clearly not even worth flirting with (if describing your dream in excruciating detail can count as flirting. ) O'Sullivan's script is excellent in these small moments: she has a very good ear for how people judge each other (either overtly or not), and how difficult it is sometimes to see past the surface of things, especially if you are wrapped up in your own problems. Bridget is very wrapped up in her own problems when she gets a summer gig as a nanny for Frances ( Ramona Edith Williams). Frances' mothers, Maya ( Charin Alvarez) and Annie ( Lily Mojekwu) have just had another baby, and need help with their rambunctious fearless six-year-old, who is also somewhat pissed off at being displaced by her baby brother. Frances makes the inexperienced Bridget work for her paycheck! Compared to Bridget, Maya and Annie are settled, responsible, adults. But there are fissures beneath the perfect surface. Annie is a lawyer, working extremely long hours. Maya is in a state of increasing postpartum depression, deteriorating before Bridget's worried eyes. Bridget's "this isn't a relationship, we're just hooking up" thing with the sweet-tempered Jace ( Max Lipchitz) has resulted in a pregnancy and then an abortion. Bridget is determined to take a practical view of it, but her response is complicated. She doesn't seem to take seriously the trauma her body has experienced. Her blood is constantly flowing in Saint Frances. Let's talk about the blood, so present throughout it's almost another lead character. Waking up after having sex with Jace for the first time, she realizes she got her period, staining the mattress. She is mortified, of course, but Jace is so good-natured about it it becomes their first shared joke. Tampons, pads, leakage, stained underwear, being caught out without a tampon, the whole "gross" nine yards... this is all so much a regular part of a woman's life it's almost banal (in real life, anyway), and yet it's rarely dealt with in film, and certainly not as forthrightly as it is here. There's an electrifying moment when Bridget and Maya, both devastated about different things having to do with their bodies, suddenly find it all hilarious and start laughing so hard they're in tears. There's a somewhat forced scene where a bitchy woman at a Fourth of July picnic reprimands Maya for breastfeeding in public, but a real point is being made. Often the policing of women's bodies comes from other women. And so women are left even more isolated, ashamed of their bodies, wondering why "it"—whatever "it" is—comes so easily to other women. That's the big lie: that you, and you alone, are having a hard time. The world wants you to think this, wants you to think you're a huge screw-up. But what if... nobody knows what they're doing? This all comes to a head in a powerhouse scene between Bridget and Annie. Annie has barely been a presence thus far, because she is now the sole breadwinner, and her job is extremely demanding. Bridget is so self-involved she hasn't really noticed that something has been brewing in Annie. When Annie finally opens up, in a beautifully written monologue, the passion and pain Mojekwu brings almost stops the film in its tracks. It's heartrending. I liked "Saint Frances" very much up until that moment, but it was that moment that I fell in love with it. Because Annie, competent responsible Annie, got to be three-dimensional too, and in that moment she ceased being a peripheral character in a movie starring Bridget, and became the star of her own story. As we all are. If we could only come outside of ourselves enough to notice. It made me think of those gorgeous lines from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Hyperion": Believe me, every man has his secret sorrows, which the world knows not; and oftimes we call a man cold, when he is only sad. The need to seem like you have it all figured out, that you are all put together, is an insidious by-product of the self-help culture we live in, and this is especially true for women. The idea is that if you're not "eating, praying, and loving" across the continents, and learning and growing and changing according to schedule, then the problem must be you. Bridget may be the central character but she isn't the only one who "learns and grows and changes. " What happens during her summer gig is a group event, an upheaval in four lives, four people churning around in chaos towards a future, not knowing what they're doing, trying to understand each other, often failing, sometimes succeeding. True, the subject of this biographical piece is fascinating but, H. E Amjad Khan’s approach towards the same does not translate onto the big screen. For one, the narrative is messy from the word go and although Khan tries to juxtaposition Malala’s inner turmoil with the war waged by the Talibans, he ends up concocting a story that is half-baked, and riddled with glaring flaws and discrepancies. And, barring seasoned actors Atul Kulkarni and Divya Dutta, the star cast (including the protagonist) has failed to deliver believable performances. In fact, Reem’s version of Malala neither renders a cathartic experience for its viewers, nor does it evoke any sense of real emotions. Also, the background score is a replica of the 80s war films in a not-so-flattering way and the haphazard writing goes on for 132 minutes, making ‘Gul Makai’ a tedious watch. It is quite disappointing that the film does not mention any of the controversies Malala has courted along the way, which is hard to overlook given the fact that the film is biographical in nature. ‘Gul Makai’ could have been a very strong story, but the initial spark fizzles out when translated on screen; the takeaway here is close to nothing.
